Devonport Business Support Service
Business Description
The Devonport Business Support Service was started in 2005 to help pre-start and existing businesses in the Devonport New Deal for Communities area with one to one advice, support, information, and training.

Business Summary
The project is funded through the Devonport Regeneration Community Partnership which also provides financial assistance in the form of grants. All grant applications are discretionary and subject to a panel decision.
a) Business Start Up Grants
A £1,000 grant providing 100% funding for businesses either just starting to trade or those who have been trading for less than 6 months. The majority of grants are payable direct to the supplier ensuring businesses do not have to pay these initial business costs up front.
b)Small Business Support Grants
A £3,500 grant providing 50% funding. No goods can be purchased prior to the decision of the grant application panel. All goods are then bought by the business and a 50% refund will be payable to the business on receipt of proof of payment from the supplier. Any goods purchased over £7,000 will still only receive the maximum £3,500.
c)Small Business ICT Support Grants
A £2,500 grant providing 50% funding towards the cost of ICT developments within the business to encourage investment, expand business activity, and help to improve ICT facilities.
d)Business Security Grants
These grants can provide up to £9,000 towards essential security equipment for business premises in the area subject to an independent review by our security consultant.
The project is funded by Devonport Regeneration Community Partnership and covers the Devonport New Deal for Communities area, this is mainly in the PL1 4** postcode area. Clients need to be either resident in the area and starting their business in the area or living outside and trading from a registered address in the Devonport NDC area.
